The Dog in the Manger

A Dog, looking out for its afternoon nap, jumped into the Manger of an Ox and lay there cosily upon the straw. But soon the Ox, returning from its afternoon work, came up to the Manger and wanted to eat some of the straw.
The Dog in a rage, being awakened from its slumber, stood up and barked at the Ox, and whenever it came near attempted to bite it.
At last the Ox had to give up the hope of getting at the straw, and went away muttering...

MORAL: People often grudge others what they cannot enjoy themselves.

REFLECTION: People usually do hold the things what they want. They never give-up on the things what they want and sometimes they fight for it.
But before making a move we should know if our action is appropriate  or we are in the right situation because sometimes we do things that could make someone be irritate by our actions.

The Ant and the Grasshopper

In a field one summer's day a Grasshopper was hopping about, chirping and singing to its heart's content. An Ant passed by, bearing along with great toil an ear of corn he was taking to the nest.
"Why not come and chat with me," said the Grasshopper, "instead of toiling and moiling in that way?"
"I am helping to lay up food for the winter," said the Ant, "and recommend you to do the same."
"Why bother about winter?" said the Grasshopper; we have got plenty of food at present." But the Ant went on its way and continued its toil.
When the winter came the Grasshopper found itself dying of hunger, while it saw the ants distributing, every day, corn and grain from the stores they had collected in the summer.
Then the Grasshopper knew...

MORAL : It is best to prepare for the days of necessity.

REFLECTION: We are sometimes very dependent that we seldom don't do our works and our reason is "it's not yet the deadline". I can relate because sometimes I don't do the things that need to be done in other for me not to be in a hurry in doing all the stuffs in school, but because I'm lazy and so dependent on the deadline of the passing of all the stuffs in school, when the deadline is already near that's the time that I'm in a hurry doing the stuffs and making my works not that well and not that nice. So, we should be always be ready of the things that we might face someday and we should be like a girl scout/boy scout.

The Fox and the Goat

By an unlucky chance a Fox fell into a deep well from which he could not get out. A Goat passed shortly afterwards, and asked the Fox what he was doing down there. "Oh, have you not heard?" said the Fox; "there is going to be a great drought, so I jumped down here in order to be sure to have water by me. Why don't you come down too?"
The Goat thought well of this advice, and jumped down into the well. But the Fox immediately jumped on her back, and by putting his foot on her long horns managed to jump up to the edge of the well. "Good-bye, friend," said the Fox.
Remember next time...

MORAL: Never trust the advice of a man in difficulties.

REFLECTION: Never trust a person easily. Don't easily be convince by a persons advice because that person might used you for her/his sake. So in other words you should be aware of the hypocrites trying to convince you with her/his selfish advice.

The Lion and the Mouse

Once when a Lion was asleep, a little Mouse began running up and down upon him; this soon wakened the Lion, who placed his huge paw upon him, and opened his big jaws to swallow him.
"Pardon, O King," cried the little Mouse, "forgive me this time, I shall never forget it. Who knows but I may be able to do you a turn some of these days?"
The Lion was so tickled at the idea of the Mouse being able to help him, that he lifted up his paw and let him go.
Some time hunters who desired to carry him alive to the King, tied him to a tree while they went in search of a wagon to carry him on.
Just then the little Mouse happened to pass by, and seeing the sad plight in which the Lion was, went up to him and soon gnawed away the ropes that bound the King of the Beasts.
"Was I not right?" said the little Mouse.

MORAL : Little friends may prove great friends.

REFLECTION:
Sometimes we don't treasure our friends, we seldom make fun of her/him but we don't know that one day she/he might be a great help to our problems. Friends should be treasured and not to be underestimated because sometimes ordinary or simple friend is the most awesome friend . :)

The Fox and the Grapes

One afternoon a fox was walking through the forest and spotted a bunch of grapes hanging from over a lofty branch.
"Just the thing to quench my thirst," quoth he.
Taking a few steps back, the fox jumped and just missed the hanging grapes. Again the fox took a few paces back and tried to reach them but still failed
Finally, giving up, the fox turned up his nose and said, "They're probably sour anyway," and proceeded to walk away.

 MORAL:

It's easy to despise what you cannot have.

REFLECTION : When we want something it easy to put it our mind but we can't easily gain or have what we want. Than to waste our time in things we can't have, we better continue our journey because we might find better in our way.

The Frog and the Ox

"Oh Father," said a little Frog to the big one sitting by the side of a pool, "I have seen such a terrible monster! It was big as a mountain, with horns on its head, and a long tail, and it had hoofs divided in two."

"Tush, child, tush," said the old Frog, "that was only Farmer White's Ox. It isn't so big either; he may be a little bit taller than I, but I could easily make myself quite as broad; just you see."

So he blew himself out, and blew himself out, and blew himself out.

"Was he as big as that?" he asked.
"Oh, much bigger than that," said the young Frog.

Again the old one blew himself out and asked the young one if the Ox was as big as that.

"Bigger, Father, bigger," was the reply.
So the Frog took a deep breath, and blew and blew and blew, and swelled and swelled. And then he said, "I'm sure the Ox is not as big as this." But at that moment he burst.

MORAL : Self-conceit may lead to self-destruction.

Reflection : People now are very conscious about their physical appearances especially girls and women.  Like in their faces, because they are not contented they put creams (chemical) that sometimes causes skin burn and allergies. We should be contented of what we are today and accept what God had provided and given to us.

The Wolf in Sheep's Clothing

A Wolf found great difficulty in getting at the sheep owing to the vigilance of the shepherd and his dogs. But one day it found the skin of a sheep that had been flayed and thrown aside, so it put in on over its own pelt and strolled down among the sheep.
The Lamb that belonged to the sheep, whose skin the Wolf was wearing, began to follow the Wolf in the Sheep's clothing.
So, leading the Lamb a little apart, he soon made a meal off her, and for some time he succeeded in deceiving the sheep, and enjoying hearty meals.

 Moral : Appearances are deceptive.

Reflection :  Nowadays there are many victims of stealing, rape & etc. It is  because they easily trust those people  whom they do not know yet. One of the reason why they easily trust this people is because of their physical appearances.  So, before we trust a person we should know her/him better to avoid danger.

Belling the Cat

The Mice once called a meeting to decide on a plan to free themselves of their enemy, the Cat. At least they wished to find some way of knowing when she was coming, so they might have time to run away. Indeed, something had to be done, for they lived in such constant fear of her claws that they hardly dared stir from their dens by night or day.
Many plans were discussed, but none of them was thought good enough. At last a very young Mouse got up and said: "I have a plan that seems very simple, but I know it will be successful. All we have to do is to hang a bell about the Cat's neck. When we hear the bell ringing we will know immediately that our enemy is coming."
All the Mice were much surprised that they had not thought of such a plan before. But in the midst of the rejoicing over their good fortune, an old Mouse arose and said: "I will say that the plan of the young Mouse is very good. But let me ask one question: Who will bell the Cat?"

Moral : "It is one thing to say that something should be done, but quite a different matter to do it."

Reflection : Sometimes we think of good things to be done but impossible to do it. So, when we think of good ideas we should always put in mind if this ideas applicable. Like, when we thought to buy in canteen because we're hungry but will you able to  buy foods when your money is not enough. So, we should always be wise. :)

The Crow and The Pitcher

In a spell of dry weather, when the Birds could find very little to drink, a thirsty Crow found a pitcher with a little water in it. But the pitcher was high and had a narrow neck, and no matter how he tried, the Crow could not reach the water. The poor thing felt as if he must die of thirst.
Then an idea came to him. Picking up some small pebbles, he dropped them into the pitcher one by one. With each pebble the water rose a little higher until at last it was near enough so he could drink.

Moral : "In a pinch a good use of our wits may help us out."

Reflection : We should not underestimate small things because it sometimes it helps us in our problem.  Like an one peso, we may think that it's just a small amount of money but when you go to mall or groceries and you find out that your nine pesos is not enough because the thing you're suppose to buy is 10 pesos, so you can never get what you want. Another thing is when you're saving money in your piggy bank, everyday you put one peso and in the end of the year you'll find out that your piggy bank is already full. So, in simple ways of using simple things can sometimes cause great effect . :)

The Dog and His Reflection

A Dog, to whom the butcher had thrown a bone, was hurrying home with his prize as fast as he could go. As he crossed a narrow footbridge, he happened to look down and saw himself reflected in the quiet water as if in a mirror. But the greedy Dog thought he saw a real Dog carrying a bone much bigger than his own.
If he had stopped to think he would have known better. But instead of thinking, he dropped his bone and sprang at the Dog in the river, only to find himself swimming for dear life to reach the shore. At last he managed to scramble out, and as he stood sadly thinking about the good bone he had lost, he realized what a stupid Dog he had been.

Moral: "It is very foolish to be greedy."

REFLECTION: We should not be greedy because being greedy does not do good at all. I can relate because sometimes I'm so greedy of something that I don't want my brother/other people to have more or gain more than what I get but in the end it sometimes causes misunderstanding or conflict , because they will tell me that I'm so GREEDY and SELFISH . :|
